Please join us at a special reception on Sunday,
November 4 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Windsor Historical
Society as we unveil a brand-new photo book about
Windsor. Images of America: Windsor, an
Arcadia publication has something for everyone.
You’ll find historic houses and buildings and
engaging pictures of Windsor residents of yesteryear
showing vintage clothing
and hairstyles. Readers will discover
tobacco-growing methods before the use of mechanized
equipment, long-gone but not forgotten Windsor
businesses, clubs, river views and buildings,
turn-of-the-century views of Broad Street Green
under sweeping elms, floods, trolley scenes and
much, much more.
The book was produced to celebrate the 375th
birthday of the Town of Windsor in 2008, and makes a
perfect holiday gift for anyone with ties to
Windsor. Over 200 copies have been reserved
already but there are plenty more! Authors
Christine Ermenc, Barbara Goodwin, Erin Stevic and
Connie Thomas will be on hand to personalize copies,
and refreshments will be served. Book sponsors are
Dan J. and Alice Ford Ferraina, Hartford Foundation
for Public Giving, and Windsor Federal Savings.
Purchase price for Images of America: Windsor is
$20. It can be sent to you for an additional $5. If
purchased directly from Windsor Historical Society,
50% of the proceeds support the Society’s many
school and public programs and educational
activities. The book includes many rare and
never-before-published photographs from the
