Historical Society Seeks Donations for Pre-Holiday Auction
Building
on the runaway success of last year’s auction, Windsor
Historical Society plans another pre-holiday auction on the
evening of Friday, November 19, 2010 from 6:00 to 9 p.m.
This year’s affair will be held in the Birch Meadows Banquet
Facility at 76 Dudleytown Road on the Windsor- Bloomfield
line. Delicious wine, hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be
served, so reserve the date on your calendar now. Tickets
are $25 and may be purchased at the Society.
Our auction committee is looking up for to 50 silent auction
items and 50 live auction items. We find that people bid
eagerly on items such as:
·
time at vacation homes or resorts
·
catered private dinners
·
themed gift baskets
·
high quality antiques, art, craft work or jewelry, minimum
auction value of $100
·
electronic items such as the Nintendo Wii
·
high quality children’s gifts
We are also grateful for a cash gift to be used towards
purchase of auction items.
If you have any of the above items to donate or would like
to join the auction committee, please contact: Society
Director Christine Ermenc at 860-688-3813 or
cermenc@windsorhistoricalsociety.org. Auction committee
members are primarily responsible for obtaining auction
donations, but we could also use administrative help and
assistance organizing and packing auction items and setting
up the banquet facilities in November. Auction committee
members will make the final decision on items accepted for
the auction.
It’s for a good cause: your donations support the many
public programs we offer for Windsor’s schoolchildren and
adults, and the operation of our historic houses, research
library, exhibition galleries, and family learning center.
The Windsor Historical Society is a private, non-profit
educational organization that is tax-exempt under IRS code
501(c)(3). All gifts are fully tax deductible and will be
acknowledged. Donors will be listed in the auction booklet,
on our website, and in press releases and e-mail blasts
sent about the auction. A donation for our auction is a
high-visibility way to show your support for our active,
community-spirited museum and for Windsor history.
