Take a guided tour and step into Windsor’s past
as you cross the threshold of one of our two historic homes. Our houses
are open year round.
Chaffee House
c. 1767
Walk
across the historic Palisado Green to Hezekiah Chaffee’s impressive
brick mansion house. Explore the work of a pre-Revolutionary doctor
(and the life of his patients) in this rare, 18th-century, doctor’s office
where historic medical instruments are on view. Learn how the Chaffee
family lived and how this house served the Chaffee School for Girls in
the 20th century. This house has steps and thresholds.
The
Windsor Historical Society maintains and operates the Chaffee House as a
house museum under an agreement with the Town of Windsor.
