Windsor Historical Society Digital Library of Windsor
Postcards
This online exhibit features a portion of the Windsor
Historical Society’s postcard collection. Visit the website
at
https://sites.google.com/site/postcarddigitallibrary to
see images of Windsor’s historic buildings, views of
Connecticut Valley tobacco farming operations, and a set of
four postcards sent to Private Joseph Bushnell, a young man
from Windsor
serving in the European
theatre during World War I. About forty postcards were
scanned, cataloged, and uploaded to the digital library in
the fall of 2011.
The Digital Library was created by Thomas Brophy, a graduate
student in the Masters of Library Science program at
Southern Connecticut State University. The postcards are
grouped into three thematic collections which present a
thumbnail image and a brief description. Each individual
item can be displayed on its own webpage with a more
detailed description for further exploration and research.
In the future, more postcards or other archival collection
objects may be added to the Digital Library. Contact the
Windsor Historical Society at
info@windsorhistoricalsociety.org with any questions.
