Windsor Historical Society actively collects objects
that represent all aspects of Windsor’s history.
However, because our storage areas are limited, we are
currently focusing our collecting efforts in the
following areas: 17th, 18th, and
20th century objects with a strong Windsor
provenance. We are also particularly interested in
objects with connections to our historic houses on
Palisado Green, the John and Sarah Strong House and the
Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee House.
We are also focusing our collecting efforts towards
photographs and materials which document 20th
century Windsor and its evolution from an agricultural
village to a diverse suburban community.
If you are interested in discussing a potential
donation, contact Curator Christina Vida at
cvida@windsorhistoricalsociety.org or Librarian
Barbara Goodwin at
bgoodwin@windsorhistoricalsociety.org. They can also
be reached by calling 860-688-3813. Please do
not send materials in the mail without conferring with
our staff first.
Our
Collections Committee comprised of staff, board members,
museum professionals, and community representatives
meets several times a year to review potential
acquisitions. For items that are accepted into the
collection, signed Deed of Gift paperwork documents the
formal transfer of ownership to the Windsor Historical
Society.
