The Windsor Historical Society invites
families to an Easter egg hunt and spring craft day on
Saturday, April 15 from 10:00 to 4:00. Children will hunt
for colorful eggs on the Society’s lawn and uncover the
candy treats hidden inside! Children and
adults will also enjoy making spring-themed crafts in the
Society’s Hands-On-History Learning Center. Space is
limited, so call the Society for reservations at (860)
688-3813.
Preschoolers
through 5th graders are eligible for the egg hunt, which
will be held on the Society’s lawn starting promptly at
10:30 and running until 11:30. The Society will provide
each child with a bag to gather eggs hidden specifically for
his or her skill level. Each egg holds a small, packaged
candy treat. Candies include M&M’s, chocolate eggs,
jellybeans and fun-sized candy bars. The Society’s staff
will be present to supervise the hunt, but parental
supervision is required.
The Society
also invites its guests to make spring crafts in the
Society’s Learning Center from 10:00 until 4:00. Everyone
will think spring while they paint wooden eggs, build floral
picture frames, construct chicks out of pom poms and “grow”
flower magnets. Please dress appropriately for painting and
other messy crafts!
The egg hunt
is run in conjunction with the Windsor Historical Society’s
Celebrate: Holidays in Windsor 1880-1910 exhibition
currently on view in the Society’s North Gallery. The
exhibition, which explores 19th century holidays
in Windsor, will be open throughout the day. Admission to
the program also includes access to the Society’s South
Gallery, where Windsor’s past comes to life through objects,
photographs and other artifacts.
Reservations
for the egg hunt are required by April 12 and can be made by
calling the Windsor Historical Society at (860) 688-3813.
Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for children and seniors, and
$4 for Society members. The egg hunt will be held at the
Society, 96 Palisado Avenue in Windsor. There is no rain
date for the egg hunt. In case of cancellation, the Society
will notify participants by phone. For more information
contact the Society at (860) 688-3813 or email at info@windsorhistoricalsociety.org
