Windsor Historical Society and Windsor Women’s Club
are hosting an Edwardian tea and performance by
actress Kandie Carle on Saturday, November 10 from 4
– 5:30 p.m. and you are invited! Beginning with
delicious tea sandwiches, sweets and Red Rose teas,
actress and historian Kandie Carle will bring her
widely acclaimed “Edwardian Lady” show to the
Windsor Historical Society.
Ms.
Carle’s program starts as she dons undergarments –
the corseting, bustles and petticoats that gave
Edwardian-era dresses their shape. Clothing,
accessories (fans, jewelry, hats, the contents of a
lady’s purse), the role of servants in the Edwardian
household, manners, and customs of the era will be
shown. Ms. Carle will also talk about inventions
of the era, home life, and life in the workplace.
The program is lively -- a delightful mix of facts,
humor and history. Last year’s Victorian Tea was a
sellout without being advertised.
This year’s tea features the Edwardian time-period
(1901-1910) to coordinate with Windsor Historical
Society’s current exhibition Over There: Windsor
and World War I open for viewing before and
after the program. The exhibition is sponsored by
The Connecticut Humanities Council, Alstom Power, an
anonymous donor, Rabbett Insurance Agency, and
Windsor Federal Savings, with support from The
Kernan Agency. David Gillette Associates is the
program sponsor. Cost for the tea is $25.00, $22.50
for Windsor Historical Society and Windsor Women’s
Club members. Reservations MUST be made for this
program. Call the Windsor Historical Society at
688-3813 to make yours!
