Tickets Now Available for Windsor Historical Society’s May 6th House Tour

Reserve your spot now for Windsor Historical Society’s “Living Today in Yesterday’s Homes” self-guided house tour to take place on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   Six homes representing the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries will be open for visiting.  Each of the homes on tour is occupied by owners who love the architecture and historic character of their home, yet have embraced adaptations for contemporary comfort.  Costumed actors and actresses from the Windsor Jesters community theater group will welcome visitors at each of the homes, providing information about “their” respective houses and lifestyles, and bring history to life.

Homes on the tour (some of which have never before been open to the public) include:

·         204 Palisado Avenue (1791 Horace Hooker house)

·         299 Palisado Avenue (c. 1830’s Joseph Rainey house)

·         375 Palisado Avenue (1791  Moses Mitchell house)

·         597 Palisado  Avenue ( 1772 John Gaylord house)

·         134 Pleasant Street (1890 Searle house with barn)

·         75 Wilton Road (late 1920’s; part of the Windsor Heights development)

The May 6th house tour is the Society’s major fundraiser, supporting public programs for schoolchildren and adults, and the operation of our historic houses, research library, exhibition galleries, and family learning center.
