Be one of the first to see these exciting new exhibitions.  Evening includes refreshments and a presentation by curator Erin Stevic.

$6 adults, $5 seniors and students  WHS members and supporters free.

 

September 10: 9:00am-noon

Farmers Market on Palisado Green

Continue a long tradition of trade on Windsor’s historic Palisado Green. Browse and buy a variety

of flowers, fruits, vegetables and agriculturally-related crafts, many locally produced. 

WHS open house: WHS exhibitions free to the public.

 

September 22: 7:00-9:30pm

BARN AGAIN! Movie Series: Parrish

Munch on free popcorn as you enjoy a movie filmed here in Windsor! Tensions flare in this 1960s drama about Connecticut Valley tobacco farmers. Short opening commentary from Connecticut State Historian Walter Woodward.

$6 adults, $5 seniors and students, or $15 per family, $4 members.

Len Hellerman’s Tobacco Visions

Enjoy an artistic look at Connecticut’s Tobacco Valley as Windsor’s own Leonard Hellerman presents a selection of his stunning photographs from local tobacco farms.

$6 adults, $5 seniors and students, or $15 per family, members free.

 

October 1: 1:00-4:30 pm

Open Barn Tours and Lecture

Get a sneak peek inside some local barns and find out how they functioned.  Enjoy Bruce Clouette’s

slide program “Farm Work in Eastern Connecticut at the Turn of the Century” at 1pm, then grab a map

and explore local barns on your own. Starts at WHS.

$10 adults $9 seniors and students, $8 members.

 

 October 15: 10am-4pm

Barn Raising on Palisado Green

Help WHS raise a barn on Palisado Green with Jeffrey Bradley of New England Outbuildings. Colonial re-enactors demonstrate cooking and crafts. Enjoy hay rides and barn dancing. Event and WHS exhibitions free.

 

 October 20: 7:00-9:30pm

BARN AGAIN! Movie Series: Witness

Harrison Ford plays a city cop protecting an Amish child (Lucas Haas) who witnesses a brutal crime. Short opening commentary from Connecticut State Historian Walter Woodward. $6 adults, $5 seniors and students, or $15 per family, $4 members.

BARN AGAIN! Movie Series: Babe

Can an enterprising piglet learn the skills of a sheep dog and save himself from becoming Christmas dinner? Come watch this family-friendly barnyard tale unfold. Short opening commentary from Connecticut State Historian Walter Woodward.

$6 adults, $5 seniors and students, or $15 per family, $4 WHS members.

 

October 29: 4:30-6:00pm

Palisado Cemetery Ghost Walk

Explore past lives with WHS and the Windsor Jesters theatrical group. Begin with a lesson on gravestone art at WHS before meeting costumed people from Windsor’s past at Palisado Cemetery. Reservations require- Call 860-688-3813 by 10/28. $10 adults, $9 seniors and students, $8 members.

 

November 5: 2:00-3:30pm

Whoa Back Pig! Songs of Farming and Animals

Ballad singer Judy Cook returns to her Windsor roots to delight people of all ages with heartwarming songs about farm life and barnyard animals. Closing day for BARN AGAIN! and Shade Tobacco exhibitions.
