“Warming Up in Windsor”
Photography Contest
Send in your entry now!

Attention,
Windsor photographers of all ages: The Windsor Historical
Society is looking for you! On Tuesday April 12th from 7
p.m. to 9 p.m., the Society is holding a “Warming up in
Windsor” photography contest featuring photographs of
Windsor people, places, or events. It could be an image of
a child with hands wrapped around a cup of steaming hot
chocolate, or birds fluffed up against the cold. Perhaps
snowdrifts or ice formations have captured your interest.
Or have you just been lucky enough to encounter the first
snowdrops or crocuses of spring? Interested photographers
who live or work in Windsor are asked to email or send a CD
with up to five of their favorite digital photographs (jpeg
format only) fitting this theme and suitable for a family
audience to Christine Ermenc, Windsor Historical Society, 96
Palisado Avenue, Windsor, CT 06095 or
cermenc@windsorhistoricalsociety.org by April 5, 2010.
The purpose
of the photography contest is to simulate public interest in
photography and in exploring Windsor to discover what makes
our town special. You do not have to be a professional
photographer to enter; the second-place winner in last
year’s photography contest was a Sage Park Middle School
student!
The
photographs can be submitted on their individual merits or
submitted to be seen as a series; just let us know. All
photographs will be posted on the
Society’s Facebook page and viewed in a PowerPoint
presentation at the Society on April 12th. Vote for your
favorite Windsor photographs on the Society’s Facebook page
until April 11th and/or attend the evening presentation to
register your choice. We will combine Facebook tallies and
votes registered at the April 12th meeting to award the
following prizes:
First
Prize: $100
Second
Prize: $75
Third
Prize: $50
With the
digital image files (jpeg format, up to five), please submit
your:
Name
Address
(including telephone and e-mail). If a non-Windsor
resident, please give your Windsor workplace address
A sentence
or two describing yourself, your interest in photography,
and captioning information desired for your photographs.
The longer
your images are posted on the
Society’s Facebook page,
the more opportunity they have to get votes, so register
soon. The contest will only be open to those who have
pre-registered for it. Please pass the word to
photographers you know, put the date on your calendar and
get out with your camera to capture the many beauties of the
season Windsor has to offer!
This
program is supported by the Greater Hartford Arts Council. |
