Winners of “Warming Up in
Windsor” Photography Contest Announced

The
twenty-two participating photographers ranged from ten years
of age to a great-grandmother; their images included
wonderful landscape and wildlife images, photos of dogs and
rosy-cheeked children blazing trails in deep snow, Northwest
Park’s Cabin Fever Festival, spring flooding, buds, flowers
and greenery finally emerging from the snows. Viewers had
the opportunity to vote on their favorite photos on Windsor
Historical Society’s Facebook page or at Contest Award Night
at the Society on April 12th.
First
prize winner was Carol Snelgrove McOmber who has
lived in Windsor all her life and been photographing since
the age of four. Two of her winning photographs of the sun
setting over tobacco netting at Brown’s Harvest were snapped
with her cell phone.
Second
prize winner for his “Snowkids and Hot Chocolate” series was
Patrick Ellis, also a lifelong Windsor resident.
Third
prize winner was Corinne Pierson who loves taking
photographs of winter scenes. Their work and the work of
all participating photographers may be seen on the Society’s
Facebook page. This program was supported by a Neighborhood
Arts and Heritage Grant from the Greater Hartford Arts
Council. |
