We are
happy to conduct research using the resources of the
Society library for patrons who are unable to come in
and use the library in person. We have a dedicated group
of volunteer researchers who will strive to answer your
research queries. Please be aware that it may take
several weeks to receive a response.
Research inquiries should be made in writing to Librarian Barbara Goodwin, either by mail or email at
bgoodwin@windsorhistoricalsociety.org. Please
include your mailing address, daytime telephone number,
and email address with all requests. Inform us of the
maximum research and photocopy fees that you are willing
to pay. A postage charge will also apply.
Be
specific and reasonable in your research questions.
“Tell me what you have about the Phelps family” is too
broad a question. “What information do you have about
Stoughton family members living in Windsor in the
1600s?” or “Where was Ebenezer Hayden (d. 1808) buried?”
are better questions. Include information such as dates
of birth, death, or marriage, places lived, name of
spouse, etc. in your query.
We will
bill you after completing the research or meeting your
maximum fee, whichever comes first. However, payment
must be received before we will send out research
materials. Please make checks payable to the Windsor
Historical Society or contact us for credit card
payments.
