Windsor
Historical Society and Windsor Woman’s Club are hosting a
fundraiser luncheon on Saturday, November 7 from 12 noon to
1:30 p.m. and you are invited! Proceeds will benefit the
WWC Scholarship Fund and other charities, and the Society’s
public programming so you are contributing to good causes.
Enjoy delicious, fancy, and filling luncheon sandwiches,
sweets, and Red Rose teas. Silver, china, and festive table
settings will add to your pleasure. Then listen to some
fascinating local tales from storyteller Steve Carter. This
event is held in conjunction with the Windsor Chamber of
Commerce’s Windsor Wade Figurine Fair.
Steve
Carter hails from a family of storytellers. His
grandmother, father, children and grandchildren all have
told stories as raconteurs, writers, and cartoonists.
Carter is fascinated by local history and will provide you
with a picture of the past in his half-hour program. He
will tell a romantic story based on true events in the
region, a ghost story, and a humorous story detailing the
hazards of travel before road improvements of the 20th
century.
Cost for
the tea is $25.00; $22.50 for Windsor Historical Society or
Windsor Woman’s Club members. Tickets are available at
Windsor Historical Society. Reservations MUST be made for
this program by November 6th. Call the Windsor Historical
Society at 688-3813, extension 102 to make yours. The
luncheon has been a sellout for the past four years. We are
still looking for a few more people to bake and make
sandwich fillings. If you can help, please contact
Christine Ermenc at 688-3813 (cermenc@windsorhistoricalsociety.org)
or Ann Walsh of the Windsor Woman’s Club at 860-688-5821 (annmwalsh1040@hotmail.com).
